Sayers bakery returns to pre-tax profit in 2014 financial year

Bakery group Sayers has posted a return to pre-tax profit and has seen an increase in sales, for the year to September 30th.

The company posted a pre-tax profit of £469,000 in 2014, compared with a pre-tax loss of £82,000 in 2013. Revenue also rose from £42.4m to £45.4m.

Six Poundbakery stores were opened during the financial year and two of its existing stores were converted to include a Poundcafe.

Sayers operates more than 150 shops across the North of England and has recently taken the Poundbakery concept to the West Midlands.

The company also expressed plans to increase the number of Poundbakery and Poundcafe sites in 2015.
