Chefs see ‘substantial’ pay rise over last year
According to the latest report from specialist staffing company Blue Arrow, commis chefs have seen their wages rise by 16.8% from last year, from £16,554 per annum in 2016 to £17,773 in 2017.
Chefs de partie saw their wages go up 6.4% and sous chefs enjoyed a 4.4% pay rise.
Waiters and bartenders experienced a 7.4% rise in their wages, while the overall average industry salary increased by just 1%.
Toni Richards, marketing director at Blue Arrow, said, “We’re starting to see the boost expected at this time of year and despite ongoing economic uncertainty these figures are encouraging.”
