In a nod to Veganuary, high-street chain Zizzi is offering 2 for 1 on all vegan main dishes throughout the month, including its new avocado pizza, Arcobaleno, created in collaboration with The World Avocado Organisation.

Featuring pink beetroot ‘beetballs’, sun blushed tomatoes, chilli, purple basil and avocado, Arcobaleno’s launch - meaning ‘rainbow’ in Italian due to the array of colours – follows a survey carried out by the company, which revealed that 44% of Brits plan on adapting their diet in January, with 18% choosing to cut out meat and 47% partaking in Dry January.

Marketing director Jo Fawcett said: “We wanted to create another dish for our menu that ticks multiple boxes for customers by using ingredients that our diners love, and avocado continues to be one of the key ingredients requested at Zizzi.

“With social media continuing to drive the trend for visually appealing food, we understand the need to design aesthetically beautiful dishes with more diversification in terms of pizza toppings, resulting in pretty plates of enviable meals that foodies will be snapping in seconds.

Zizzi said that its collaboration with The World Avocado Organisation comes as stats reveal that sales of the fruit have risen by 180% since 2013, and sales of its own vegan dishes have risen by 246% since 2016.

Xavier Equihua, chief executive officer of The World Avocado Organisation added:
“We’re excited to work with Zizzi to launch the Arcobaleno Pizza during Veganuary 2018.

“The month of January is a time when being good to our bodies is high on our minds and eating well is a big part of achieving such goal. Avocados are the right choice to help you eat well as they have incredible health benefits.

“The UK’s favourite superfood is not only delicious, versatile and nutritious, it also contains 20 essential nutrients, including a good source of fibre and folate, potassium, Vitamin E, B-vitamins, and folic acid and is one of the few fruits in our universe that contains protein and both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. These are some of reasons why the avocado is indeed ‘The Fruit of Life.’”
