Young & Co reports revenue and profits boost

The first half of the financial year for Young & Co.'s Brewery Plc, saw turnover and adjusted operating profit up across the pub company’s operations.

Across the group, revenues rose by 6% to £144.1 million for the 26 weeks to 2 October and adjusted operating profit was up 10.3% at £27.8 million against the same period last year.

Revenues were down 11.1% at £2.4 million for the group’s Ram Pub Company tenanted division, a loss impacted by several transfers to the managed division.

Like-for-like sales across managed pubs and restaurants was up 4.6% at £132.9 million while adjusted EBIDTA rose by 8.2% to £43.5 million.

Over the past six weeks, sales have risen 7%, with lfl sales up 4.9%.

Patrick Dardis, chief executive of Young's, said: “Despite the continuing unpredictability of our trading environment, we have made a strong start to the second half of the year.’

“Our expectations for the full year remain unchanged and we are confident about our long-term prospects thanks to our premium offer, well-invested and prime located pubs, and the talented teams we have in place across our business.”

The 186-year-old chain has an estate of around 220 pubs across the UK.
