Vegan sales at Zizzi restaurants more than triple in last three months

Sales of vegan dishes at restaurant group, Zizzi, have increased by 246% since November 2016, the company has revealed.

The Italian-inspired chain says it has sold more than 166,451 dairy and meat-free meals since the summer.

Vegan pizza sales have more than doubled in the last year with an increase of 104% and total sales of 155,713.

Zizzi, which claims to have been the first high street restaurant to offer a vegan cheese alternative, currently has three vegan pizzas on its menu.

Data revealed that vegan dessert sales have increased tenfold in the last year, with sticky chocolate & praline torte the most popular choice for customers with 116,040 dishes sold.

Lentil Ragu was the most popular non-pizza vegan main, with 66,693 dishes sold across Zizzi’s 147 UK sites.

Jo Fawcett, the marketing director at Zizzi, said: “At Zizzi we pride ourselves on creating great dining experiences for all by providing a menu that caters for everyone.

"We aim to take the stress out of dining to ensure good times for all.”

Zizzi is owned by Italian casual dining specialist Azzuri Group, whose other businesses include ASK Italian and Coco di Mama.
