Revolution Bars Group Plc has announced the appointment of former Mitchells & Butlers director Rob Pitcher as its new chief executive.

Pitcher joins the 72-strong bar chain from M&B, where he was responsible for the group’s restaurant chains such as Toby Carvery and Harvester.

During his 25 years in the hospitality industry, Pitcher has also held senior roles with Bramwell, Stonegate and Town & City.

Keith Edelman, who has been filling in as chief of Revolution since former boss Mark McQuater stepped down late last year, will revert back to his previous role as non-executive chairman.

“We have undertaken a wide-ranging and exhaustive search for a new chief executive with extensive relevant experience to take the company to our next stage of growth,” said Edelman.

“Rob Pitcher’s proven operational experience and leadership qualities with considerably bigger companies will enhance the ongoing development of the Revolution and Revolucion de Cuba brands. The board looks forward to working with him.”

Previous chief executive McQuater left the group last October following months of speculation over its future and rejected takeover bids from Stonegate Pub Company and the Deltic Group.

In its first-half trading update, Revolution Bars reported revenues were up over 10% at £73.7m, as December trading lifted like-for-like sales by 5.9%.

Pitcher's start date is to be announced in due course.
