Italian restaurant chain Polpo is hosting a series of dinner events this month (March) in partnership UK charity, Refuge, to help support victims of domestic violence.

Coinciding with Women’s Month – or La Mese Della Donna as known in Italian – each event will celebrate “inspirational” women with talks from charity spokespeople and employees to “highlight issues facing women today.”

Kicking off at Polpo Brighton on 18 March, guests will enjoy a Venetian feast comprising dishes such as fritto misto, meatballs, stuffed olives, prosciutto and gorgonzola pizzette, and arancini.

On 21 March, Polpo Beak Street will host a wine tasting dinner in collaboration with Shoreditch wine bar and shop, Passione Vino, followed by a dinner at Polpo Soho on 28 March.

Managing director Scott Macdonald said: “La Mese Della Donna is an important month for us at Polpo, and it’s fantastic to work with Refuge on such a worthy cause.

“Our aim is to celebrate the women who make Polpo what it is as well as all the women in the hospitality industry and beyond – and as any Italian ‘nonna’ (grandma) knows, the best way to show someone you love them is by feeding them.”

Sandra Horley, Refuge chief executive, added: “Refuge is delighted to be partnering with Polpo in March to champion and support women throughout the Mese della Donna and beyond.

“Every day, Refuge works tirelessly to support thousands of women and children experiencing violence and abuse. Refuge is thrilled to have the support of Polpo in raising awareness of our life-saving and life-changing specialist services.”

Tickets cost £45 per person for a set menu of sharing plates and wine, with 50% of proceedings going to Refuge: https://www.polpo.co.uk/events/
