Novus Tea launches Tsuki matcha
This product has been introduced to coincide with research which has found that tea is drunk by around 85% of Britons, and sales of green tea, matcha and other speciality blends are growing strongly.
Allan Pirret, sales director of Novus Tea, said: “This market growth represents a fantastic opportunity for restaurants, hotels, coffee shops, cafés, bars - as well as traditional tea shops - to introduce matcha.”
Matcha is a bright-green powder produced by grinding the dried tips of specially grown tea leaves between granite stones. Matcha can be used to make hot tea drinks (as in Japanese tea ceremonies), or be used as a flavouring and colouring ingredient in a range of hot and cold beverages, alcoholic drinks and foods (including chocolates, sponge cakes, ice cream, macaroons, madeleines and Tiramisu).
