Richmond café, The Retreat Kitchen, has become the first UK café to have its full menu accredited under the Vegetarian Society Approved vegan trademark scheme.

The café, which was setup by Maggie Nutall and Claire Langdon following their appearance on Netflix programme, The Retreat, has had its full menu licensed to display the trademark.

Nutall said: ‘The Vegetarian Society is such a trusted and well-respected organisation, so to be accredited with the Vegetarian Society Approved vegan trademark is brilliant.

“We’re thrilled to be the first establishment nationwide to be licensed to proudly display it across our whole menu,”

The trademark was launched in March this year, and, according to the Vegetarian Society, has been designed to ‘help people ‘make the right choices for their lifestyle’.

The Retreat Kitchen, which is co-owned by TV presenter Nick Knowles who worked with Nutall and Langdon on the show, was set up in June and on its menu serves vegan lunches, salads, sweet treats and all day brunches.
