Muffin Break expands UK portfolio

The Australian brand Muffin Break has launched two new UK coffee shops in Basildon and Chester, with plans to open a further 15 sites in the next year.

Together, the two locally-owned 1,500 square foot sites will foster 26 new jobs, and can each cater for up to 80 people. They will serve the brand’s homemade muffins, including gluten-free and dairy-free ranges, as well as a selection of hot foods, coffee and other beverages.

Owner of Muffin Break, Foodco’s development manager, Joshua Nixon said: “We’re delighted to have opened in Basildon and Chester and early trading figures are very encouraging.  Muffin Break is a fast growing, ambitious brand and we are keen to talk to more landlords as we look to take our UK portfolio to 75 stores by this time next year.

“Interest from franchisees and landlords is currently very strong for a number of reasons.  However, a key factor seems to be the fact that we are a café bakery which means that our food and hot beverage offering is so much substantial than coffee and a light snack.

“In addition to new store openings, we also have a progressive store refurbishment plan for the remainder of 2017 to roll out our new contemporary and flexible store model.”

Muffin Break was founded in Australia in 1989 and now has over 350 locations worldwide, including over 20 years experience in the UK.
