M Restaurants reports profits growth

In the run up today's (11 September) M Bar & Grill opening, M Restaurants has reported like-for-like growth of 9.3% across its sites in the nine months to August.

Chief executive and founder Martin Williams, formerly managing director of the Gaucho Group, said that despite increased competition and a “generally flat” period for most city restaurants, the company’s sales were growing.

M Threadneedle Street saw Lfl growth of 7.6% and M Victoria’s profits rose by 11.5%, with an overall EBITDA increase of £198,000 for the business.

"We are becoming well known for an excellent quality of offering and hospitality,” said Williams. “Operations director Andre Mannini and group executive chef Michael Reid are wonderfully obsessive about the delivery of our offering- and it shows in the results.

“Our private members M DEN lounges are almost at capacity and we will need to look at closing the membership in the coming months. M DENs have helped create a fantastic community of guests who share in our beliefs and our passion for great wine, food and service.”

The company is due to open its M Bar & Grill near Twickenham rugby Stadium later today, a venture which it has partnered former England international Simon Shaw on and marks the groups first foray into the casual dining sector.
