Food additives and genetically modified food among ‘mythical’ cancer causes

In England, 42% of people wrongly believe that food additives cause cancer and 34% believe genetically modified food can lead to the disease, according to a new study.

Researchers at University College London (UCL) and the University of Leeds surveyed 1,330 people and found that mistaken belief in ‘mythical’ causes of cancer is worryingly common.

Eurowings to offer ‘high-quality’ catering on new business class offering

Eurowings took off from Düsseldorf for New York on Saturday as the first low-cost airline with a business class – ‘BIZclass’ – featuring ‘high-quality’ catering.

The BIZclass concept has been co-developed by airline onboard retail specialist Retail inMotion, with the support of its sister company within the LSG Group, LSG Sky Chefs.

Chef Ruth Hansom - the first-ever female Young National Chef of the Year – has this week been announced a chef patron for the Association of Catering Excellence (ACE).

EFSA updates Comprehensive European Food Consumption Database

EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) has published a new release of its Comprehensive European Food Consumption Database, which includes data collected under EFSA’s EU Menu project for the first time.

Sustainability expert WRAP has today (26 April) launched its UK Plastic Pact, with the hope of “transforming the plastic packaging system in the UK and keeping plastic in the economy and out of the ocean.”
