The Lead Association for Catering in Education (LACA) has reacted to the findings that revealed that childhood obesity in England has reached a ‘record high’.

It was revealed last week (11 October) that 4.2% of 10-11 year-olds ‘severely obese’, up more than a third since 2006/7.

It is the last chance to register interest in the LACA 2019 School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) competition.

The contest, sponsored by McDougalls, is open to all school chefs across the UK, who hold a kitchen-based post, and are involved in the daily preparation of pupil’s meals at time of entry.

Interest must be registered by 29 September, and formal entries by 17 October.
