All state schools in England should offer pupils a compulsory plant-based menu one day a week, the social association has recommended.

The Guardians of Grub campaign has been launched today (13 May) to tackle nearly £3 billion worth of food that is wasted every year across the hospitality and foodservice sector, of which 75% could have been eaten.

Secondary school pupils from the most disadvantaged families who are entitled to free school meals are losing out on tens of millions of pounds every year in unspent lunch funds, according to an investigation by charity Citizens UK.
