Thousands of workers, including caterers, on term time only contracts working in schools and nurseries are to receive large payments following a legal battle between trade unions and Greenwich Council.

Latest figures reveal that 500 new schools have signed up to Family Action and Magic Breakfast’s National School Breakfast Programme since March, providing ‘thousands’ more children a ‘healthy and nutritious’ start to the day.

This comes from Children and Families Minister Nadhim Zahawi, who said that figures show that 15,000 breakfasts are now served to children across the UK everyday, and that 500 new or improved breakfast clubs have signed up to the programme – with more than 150 already up and running.

More than half of new meat-free product launches in the UK carry a vegan claim, according to research from Mintel.

The growing profile of vegan foods is reflected by the fact that in 2017, more than half (52%) of new product launches in the meat-free foods market were vegan/contained no animal ingredients up from 28% in 2014, according to Mintel Global New Products Database (GNPD).
