Children exceed the maximum recommended sugar limit for an 18-year-old by the time they reach age 10, according to Public Health England (PHE).

Baking company Premier Foods has launched its fifth annual McDougalls Young Baking Team of the Year, open to schoolchildren aged 7-11.

Dorset-based school meals provider, Local Food Links, has announced the winners for its competition for pupils in its schools to design Christmas cards.

The competition, which is now in its fourth year, has children submitting entries showcasing an array of colourful and original designs.

The Annual Report of the CGA Prestige Foodservice Price Index, published yesterday (6 December) showed that whilst food and drink inflation for foodservice operators has reduced during 2018, many food markets remain ‘highly unstable’ in the period leading up to Brexit.

The Fish & Seafood category has risen over 25% in the past year, driven by lower catch quotas and strong demand for cod and haddock.

Wholesale foodservice prices increased again in October 2018, the Foodservice Price Index from CGA and Prestige Purchasing has revealed.

The highest inflation numbers in October were in the fish and oils & fats categories. Inflation has increased month on month since August, and the figure is now at its highest since September 2017.
