Pub company and brewer, Greene King, will have a float at Saturday’s (11 November) Lord Mayor’s Show procession through London.

The Suffolk-based operator of 3,000 pubs, restaurants and hotels has put together a team of 15 employees to lead the dray-operated float down the capital's streets.

Greene King staff will dress up in characters representative of the company’s pubs at the annual, 802-year-old event which takes the newly-elected Lord Mayor of the City of London to Westminster to swear an oath of fealty to the Crown.

Rooney Anand, Greene King’s chief executive, said: “We feel it is a real privilege to have been asked to take part in the Lord Mayor’s Show and are really looking forward to being part of such a historic event.

“We are fortunate to have some of the city’s most characterful and iconic pubs so we have decided to showcase some of them on our float. From the Punch & Judy in Covent Garden to the historic George Inn in Southwark, our team members will bring to life our characterful pubs with enthusiasm and excitement.”

Greene King will also be supporting its charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support, where all its London pubs will be fundraising during the weekend in the hope of raising £40,000.
