The 2015 FreeFrom Food Awards have seen a 33 % rise in the number of entries compared to last year's event.

The number of new companies entering the awards show has risen by almost two thirds, both further suggestion that the freefrom sector is continuing to exceed all growth predictions.

This year’s awards will see several new categories, including ‘Retailer of the Year’, ‘Meaty and fishy meals’ and ‘Confectionary’.

The new awards will run alongside the more traditional awards such as, the 'Breakfast' award, 'The Innovation Award' and the 'Children's Food Award'.

The FreeFrom Food Awards, now in its eighth year, presents winners with the ‘bright yellow winners’ logo’ which is recognised as the mark of success within the sector.

Cressida Langlands, awards co-ordinator, said: “My email inbox was staggering under the weight of entries by Friday night but it is so exciting to see so many new companies entering the awards this year.

“I suspect that, as last year, the quality of the entries will have gone on improving. I can see that our judging sessions in January are going to be extremely challenging.”

The FreeFrom Food Awards are the industry’s only awards for ‘freefrom food’, such as gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and soya-free.

The deadline to enter for the awards is December 7th; judging will then take place at the beginning of 2015, with the shortlist published in mid-February 2015. The awards presentation will take place on April 22nd 2015.
