The Coaching Inn Group Ltd has launched a chef academy at its Three Swans Hotel in Market Harborough in Leicestershire.

The Lincolnshire-based inn and hotel operator says the academy, which will support twenty apprentices, has been designed to maximise its Apprenticeship Levy funding while “ensuring the tailored development programme progresses the skills of the next generation of chef talent.”

It is offering its staff the chance to take part in an ‘Intermediate Chef Academy’ or an ‘Advanced Chef Academy’ programme.

The programmes, which will be run in partnership with speciality hospitality training provider, HIT Training, will be made up of work-based learning, mentor sessions and group training days.

Lee Melton, head of learning and development at the Coaching Inn Group, said: “The industry-wide demand for chefs means that investing in training is essential to recruit and retains these highly skilled team members.

“That’s why we decided to partner with HIT Training, to create tailored chef academies, which will nurture and develop the skills of our people. This is incredibly important to us and we hope initiatives like this demonstrate our investment in team members.

“We believe investing in high quality training will not only help to future proof the business but also the vibrant and creative sector in which we work.”

The groups says that it plans to extend its apprenticeship programme in 2018 to support its chefs.
