Bar staff will spend 49 years pouring pints this Paddy’s day

According to the Guinness Academy, an estimated 13 million pints of Guinness will be poured this St. Patrick’s Day (17 March) – which equates to bar staff spending 49 years pouring pints worldwide.

With the average pint taking “precisely 119.5 seconds to pour,” 13m will take one billion, five hundred and fifty three million, and five hundred thousand seconds, according to wholesaler BB foodservice.

Encouraging operators to capitalise on the trend, sales director Tony Holmes, said: “With Paddy’s Day falling on a Saturday this year, the opportunity for pubs and bars is enormous.

“To help them capitalise, we’ve got a fantastic deal on bottled Guinness – best served straight from the bottle, not poured. Which means bar staff will have to find something else to do with that 119.5 seconds!”
