Chef Mark Anderson, the licensee behind the award-winning and Michelin Guide listed Ruddington Arms pub, is opening a second site in Nottinghamshire.

The opening of the wet-led White Lion pub, which Anderson is partnering Star Pubs & Bars on, is part of the chef’s plans to open six new sites in the area.

Anderson plans on keeping the pub’s focus on the wet trade whilst ‘broadening its appeal’ by reintroducing food and upgrading the facilities as part of Star pubs £180,000 investment.

The interior is being redecorated and the garden re-landscaped with fire pits, heated garden sheds and outdoor pool table added.

The menu at the White Lion will include pub classics such as fish & chips, burgers and British meat and cheese boards while Anderson is introducing ten new gins and a number of new craft beers onto the menu whilst keeping Fosters and John Smiths.

“I believe a good pub is about having a broad mix of clients which reflects its community,” said Anderson. “The White Lion will have a pool table, a darts board and Sky Sports which makes it stand out from other pubs in the area.

“My ambition is to have six pubs in similar large villages and small towns with a mixed demographic outside Nottingham.”

Anderson’s first pub in Nottingham, the Ruddington Arms, has been listed in the Michelin Guide since 2015 and recently won the Nottingham Post’s best pub award.
