Halifax care home becomes first with Bronze Food for Life Award

Summerfield House Nursing Home in Halifax has become the first older people’s care setting to achieve the bronze Food for Life Served Here award in England under the Lottery-funded Better Care programme.

The bronze Food for Life Served Here award recognises caterers who are serving of fresh, local and honest meals.

The team at the care home make over 300 meals each day for residents.

Local bakery business HMPasties, which aims to reduce reoffending by hiring ex-prisoners, has won the Heart of Salford Award 2018 for the “vast contribution” it has made to the area.

SSP wins £180m contract at Spanish airports

Food and drink travel operator SSP Group has signed an eight-year contract with Spanish airports Barcelona and Madrid, said to be worth £180 million (€200m).
