All Bar One introduces new menu for Veganuary

In its second year supporting the nationwide ’Veganuary’ campaign which encourages people to give up meat for January, 49-strong bar chain All Bar One has launched a vegan-only menu.

The Mitchells and Butlers-owned group has expanded its vegan dish offering, which already makes up 7% of its permanent menu, with the help of a nutritionist.

Caitlin Young, the group’s assistant marketing manager said the menu, which now includes dishes such as 'chilli non carne tacos', 'supergreen laksa' and 'lentil & cashew dahl', is perfect for guests who are “embarking on their journey towards a vegan lifestyle”, or simply “looking for a different option when eating out”.

“Veganism has quickly become one of the top culinary trends, and shows no signs of abating,” said Young.

“With trends moving from faddy diets to healthier long-term lifestyle choices, it’s no surprise that Veganism and Flexitarianism are becoming more mainstream and popular.

“It may seem hard to make a sudden switch away from meat, however with movements such as #MeatFreeMonday and #Veganuary2018, it’s easier than ever to get a taste of an alternative food lifestyle.”

Desserts on the menu include coconut & vanilla rice pudding and raspberry sorbet while its alcohol options of ‘not your grandma’s riesling’ and ‘velvet devil merlot’ are said to be suitable for a vegan lifestyle.

One of its non alcohol options is the 'seedlip garden twist', which combines fresh herbal flavours with blends of home-grown hay & sweet peas paired with Fever-tree elderflower tonic, cucumber and fresh mint.

Matthew Glover, co-founder of Veganuary, added; “We’re delighted to be working with All Bar One again, and it’s great to see that even more new and exciting dishes have been added to the menu.

“Veganism is a lifestyle choice, and Veganaury showcases the benefits of this, and to have companies like All Bar One getting involved and supporting the charity is amazing.”

All Bar one is one of a number of food and drink businesses supporting the annual Veganuary charity initiative.

Chef Tom Aiken’s restaurant business, Tom’s Kitchen, has gotten involved while Comptoir Libanese has also created its own vegan menu to support the campaign.

The continued growth of veganism was one of ten trends for 2018 recently listed by BiteUK.
